The Global South continues to lag in technology development and deployment. With the fast-evolving nature of the energy sector, it is the right time to establish partnerships and collaborate with the Global North in developing and deploying technologies.

At the Renewable Energy Conference (REC22) held in Kololo Independence Park in Kampala, Uganda on November 3rd, 2022, a session featured our project FlowPhotoChem researchers, innovators, and practitioners from the Global North with their counterparts from the Global South, Kyambogo University discussing avenues of developing and deploying technology. The session’s panel consisted of a delegation from FlowPhotoChem, (www.flowphotochem.eu) a multi-national, EU-funded project developing new and sustainable ways of manufacturing chemicals using carbon dioxide and sunlight will share their experiences.

The panel moderator was Prof. Samson Rwahwire, Director, Directorate of Graduate Studies, Research and Innovations, Busitema University. The panellists included Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, Principal, MUBS, FlowPhotoChem Coordinator Dr Pau Farras, University of Galway, Ireland, Dr Michael Wullenkord, German Airspace Center (DLR), Dr Justus Masa, Kyambogo University, Uganda, and Dr Juliet Kyayesimira, also Kyambogo University.
